Tom Dickson - Managing Partner

Tom Dickson became CEO of New Energy Risk in 2015, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, including executive and underwriting leadership positions in the US, Europe, and Asia. He has a highly-respected track record of leading companies that respond to market opportunities with creative solutions grounded in high-quality analytics, underwriting, and risk assessment.

Prior to leading New Energy Risk, Tom held a variety of senior executive positions at leading insurers and reinsurers, notably as CEO and chief underwriting officer of the Centre Group, a $10B reinsurer that pioneered innovative insurance and reinsurance products to address high-value business risks and support financing.  

Tom also founded and was CEO of Meetinghouse LLC, a private firm specializing in investment management as well as capital and strategic planning, ratings management, and underwriting for the insurance, reinsurance, banking, and structured credit markets. Tom has served on the boards of a variety of public and private companies, including Flagstone Re, Paragon Insurance Services, Reformation Insurance Services, and as an advisor to Cellcontrol. 

Tom graduated with honors from Stanford University and received a master’s degree from John Hopkins University (SAIS). Tom remains very active in the Stanford community. Previously, he served as co-chair of Class Reunion Campaigns and has been an assistant coach for Men’s Rugby. Currently, he serves on the Natural Capital Advisory Council. He is also on the board of Adara Group, a non-profit engaged in development work in remote communities focused on health and education of women and children.

John Kelly - Managing Partner

Mr. Kelly is a sector specialist in insurance, derivatives, project and export finance, shipping and energy.

As founder and CEO of Reformation Group, Mr. Kelly has created an asset management and insurance platform which provides bank capital and specialty credit solutions and directly to global banking institutions and other leading financial institutions . He leads the company’s execution of market leading transactions by structuring, advising and investing alongside asset managers Blackstone, BlackRock, Perella Weinberg, and Apollo-Athene, and global reinsurers Partner Re, Renaissance Re., Allianz and XL Catlin. These transactions have all achieved substantially above market returns for both the asset managers and the reinsurers.

Mr. Kelly is a member of University College London’s Friends and Alumni Board of Directors ( previously Treasurer). Additionally, he was as a member of the Campaign Board.

Mr. Kelly was a Senior Executive at Citigroup where he founded the Global Insurance Products Group within the derivatives/capital markets division. The group developed numerous “market firsts” in the Catastrophe Bond-ILS, Credit Derivative, tax advantaged, and structured products sectors. Mr. Kelly managed a $1.8 billion portfolio for Citigroup’s proprietary investing purposes, which generated premium equivalent income of $50 million annually, with 0 credit losses. Mr. Kelly also advised and structured Citigroup’s sole post 9-11 property casualty insurance investment (quota share participation in a business segment of Hanover Re) which has generated realized returns of approximately 30% for Citigroup.

Mr. Kelly has a B.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He is a CFA Charter-holder and member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) aka CFA Society of New York. He is teaches graduate-level courses in finance, insurance, and derivatives at Columbia University School of Engineering  and University College London Department of Economics.

Akshay Murphy - Treasurer

Akshay Murthy joined Intricate Bay Capital in 2022 as a Managing Director. Prior to joining Mr. Murthy served as regional Head of Structuring for Global Spread Products at Citigroup. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Murthy was a partner at Forsyth Street Asset Management. Mr. Murthy has had responsibility for developing and implementing solutions across the Municipal, Credit, and Securitized Products spaces, with a specific focus on structured financing, tax credits, renewable energy, affordable housing and infrastructure development. Mr. Murthy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cornell University and received his MBA from New York University.

Dan Wisnewski - COO

Dan Wisniewski is President of Intricate Bay Capital. Prior to Intricate Bay, Mr. Wisniewski was the Chief Operating Officer of Citigroup’s Global Spread Products division, consisting of over 1,000 employees operating in 11 countries and responsible for $180 billion in bank assets. Prior to his role as COO, Dan was the Global Head of Citigroup's Municipal Capital Solutions Group, with a specific focus on project infrastructure, affordable housing, and renewable energy finance. Dan serves on the board of US Retail Inc. Dan earned degrees from the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School.
